Modi to Credit for Passage of Triple Talaq Bill: Assam BJP President

Guwahati, July 31, 2019:

Assam Pradesh Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) President Ranjeet Dass discussed a slew of important issues here today, and also credited the PM Modi-led NDA govt for passing the Twriple Talaq Bill in the Rajya Sabha, thereby inching one step closer to abolishing the age-old practice.

Addressing the Press here, the BJP leader said that all 70,000 BJP workers in the state are directly or indirectly involved in flood relief operations in pockets across the state which has been hit by one of the most devastating spells of floods in recent memory.

Dass said that although the relief operations have been delayed due to the severity of the situation, relief and rehabilitation will begin once the local authorities inform about the extent of the damage reported from the respective areas.

Speaking about the 'Triple Talaq' Bill, Dass said that the archaic custom would have ended a long time ago if the Modi Govt had come to power earlier, and claimed that the saffron party has support from across the political spectrum in the passage of this Bill.

He further said that the Union Home Minister Amit Shah is very likely to visit the State on either the 10th or 11th of this month to oversee the flood situation and also to discuss developmental projects in the region.
