KOKRAJHAR: Bodoland Territorial Chief (BTC) chief was today all praises for prime minister Modi over his "inclusive" Cabinet that now comprises 5 Ministers from the Northeast Indian region.
"Almost 70 years since independence, he (Modi) is the first prime minister who has given so much importance since independence," Boro told media during an interaction here today.
At a time when there are still apprehensions that the Northeast region is being ignored, Boro said, the prime minister has done a great service to the region by selecting as many as 5 Ministers from the region for the top-level.
Boro also lauded prime minister Modi and his deputy Amit Shah for ushering in "development" to the Northeast Indian region.
"We have a lot of expectations from the 5 Ministers (from the Northeast). But we are expecting even more from the prime minister and home minister," he added, gushing over the duo.
The BTC chief extended special congratulations to the Ministers from Assam -- Sarbananda Sonowal and Rameshwar Teli (both from the BJP) -- and said that he hopes they will play a key role in taking the region forward.

Lauding the new Cabinet for its "inclusivity", Boro said that Modi's selection of 8 scheduled tribe (ST) and 12 scheduled caste (SC) Ministers in his Cabinet will go a long way towards bridging the gap between the masses.
If such policies are being adopted, Boro mused, India's "integration", "unity", and the strength of "unity in diversity" will remain alive for a long time to come.
The Northeastern region saw its highest-ever representation in the Cabinet, after Prime Minister Narendra Modi's ministry was reshuffled for the first time.
The centre now has ministers from four out of the eight Northeastern states -- two from Assam and one each from Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur and Tripura.
In PM Modi's mega cabinet reboot yesterday, 36 new ministers joined the government and four high-profile ministers quit. PM Modi now has 77 ministers, nearly half of them new.
