GUWAHATI: Congress spokesperson Supriya Shrinate today said Prime Minister Narendra Modi has got the term GDP wrong and grew the wrong GDP -- gas, diesel, and petrol.
Launching the party’s 'Grihini Samman Guarantee' at Rajiv Bhavan here ahead of the Assam Election 2021, Shrinate said: "PM Modi was supposed to grow GDP which is Gross Domestic Product, but he got it wrong and grew another GDP – (LPG) gas, diesel, and petrol." She was criticizing the government on price hikes and their impact on the lives of women.
Shrinate along with All India Congress Committee spokesman Gourav Vallabh briefed the media on one of the five guarantees of Rs 2000 per month allowance to the homemakers.

"For this scheme, every housewife is eligible even if she's a working woman," Shrinate elaborated.
"By doing this we are not favouring anyone. Nor do I believe in patriarchal norms. It's just the work that a woman does from the day in and out; needs recognition as nobody recognises it as a job," Shrinate said.
Quoting National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) data, Shrinate said: "Assam has been at the top regarding violence against women over the past three years. Lack of employment and poverty that comes along with it, affect women the most, and to eradicate violence against women we are starting with giving employment."
While promoting Congress's poll promises the spokespersons did not forget to slam Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath, who was in Assam on the same day as BJP’s star campaigner.
"We should ask UP CM also whether is he going to make Assam like UP or take examples from Assam. Will he or anyone from BJP will talk about women's safety?" asked Shrinate.
