Guwahati, February 10, 2019:

Assam’s former Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi has slammed the BJP administration and claimed that the many of the people present at the rally held at Changsari were paid by the BJP to do so. “People will come if you pay, but what is really important is how many of those people support you”, stated Gogoi.

Gogoi also alleged that the rally was an exclusive BJP rally, as was evidenced by his exclusion from the meet and slammed the administration for spending money from the Government to hold a "party meet".

In regards to the BJP’s announcement of developmental projects in the region, Gogoi said that the Congress Government too has ushered in many developmental works in the region and claimed that the BJP Government has not addressed core issues such as insurgency and unemployment in the region.

He also slammed Finance Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and again raised the issue of the Saradha chit fund scam which he has accused of being involved in. Tarun Gogoi has also said that Narendra Modi has no grounds to point fingers at TMC Chief Mamata Banerjee as he has appointed a "dacoit" like Biswa Sarma, whose house was raided by authorities after allegations were made against him.

Tarun Gogoi also slammed the current administration for its attacks on the student organization, AASU and defended the media against the attacks of the BJP-led administration. Gogoi has also cautioned that the protests will only become more intense now.
