Guwahati, September 4, 2019:

All Assam Goriya Moriya Yuva Chatra Parishad (AAGMYCP) on Tuesday lodged an FIR against the State Coordinator of National Register of Citizens (NRC), Prateek Hajela alleging discrepancies at Latasil Police Station.

Speaking to Inside Northeast, AAGMYCP president, Ashrof Ali said, “The NRC that was being drafted under the supervision of the Supreme Court, a lot of suspected people’s name got included. Whereas, the indigenous and the son of the soil were left out. The number of left outs is beyond imagination.”

Giving the instances of using same legacy data, one or two members of a family got excluded while the rest got included in the final draft, Ali said, “This clearly proves that NRC authorities’ misconduct in the process of the NRC and ignorance of state Coordinator Prateek Hajela.”

“Through this FIR, we demand that there is an initiation of high-level investigation to probe the culprit behind such anomalies. The NRC needs to be re-verified and the indigenous people be included,” he added.
