While speaking at the 4th Convention of the Northeast Democratic Alliance (NEDA) Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio once against brought attention to the long-pressing 'Naga political issue'.
While addressing the gathering, Rio said that the Framework Agreement was signed on August 3, 2015, and after 22 years of negotiations, he remained hopeful that a resolution would be passed soon.
Calling the 'Naga Issue' the mother of all insurgency problems, Rio said that solving the issue is the key to solving all the Insurgency problems in the Northeast.
Rio further stressed that the Government of India needs to support all northeastern states, and added that with unity, this can be resolved.

Rio further added the need to tackle the need of insurgency in the region, and added that taking forward developmental activities is the need of the hour.
Lamenting the alleged 'fallout out of the Assam NRC', Rio said that all the people of the Northeast are concerned that the illegal immigrants might migrate to neighboring states.
Rio cautioned that all the Northeastern states need to coordinate to identify illegal immigrants, whom he termed as "a thorn in the flesh."
"The demography is changing, and tomorrow, many of us will be in trouble", he said, adding that the situation must be "handled carefully and sanely."
In regards to CAB, Rio meeting was held in Guwahati and resolved that it should not affect northeastern states as it will change demography in the Northeast. Rio said that the leaders of the Northeast "need to understand the ground situation" of all the states.
In the 4th Conclave of the NEDA, most of the leaders who were present raised concerns about the implications of the final NRC list, and the implementation of the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill.
