Chirang, November 8, 2019:

A National Democratic Front of Bodoland (S) (NDFB-S) cadre was nabbed on Thursday by security personnel in Chirang district of Assam.

The operation was launched on November 7 based on specific intelligence about the movement of some NDFB cadres near the Sukentaklai river near the Bhutan border.

The NDFB (S) cadre was nabbed during a joint operation, which was launched by the army and Chirang police. At the end of the successful ops, the team had apprehended one NDFB cadre, who has been identified as Philimon Narzay, a resident of Amguri. Sophisticated weapons, as well as ammunition, were recovered from the NDFB (S) cadre.

Locals believe that the operation is a result of "high alertness level", swift action and co-ordinated efforts of the security forces. This is expected to be a major setback to the militant group and has dealt a severe blow to the efforts in extortion and weapon dealing in Kokrajhar and Chirang District.

This operation will go a long way in enhancing the safety of the civilians and weak the backbone of dreaded org NDFB(S).
