NDFB (S) CADRE ON A RECRUITMENT SPREE ARRESTED IN NAGALAND

Guwahati, October 27, 2018:

A self-styled lance corporal of the banned National Democratic Front of Bodoland (Songbijit) was arrested by the security forces from Kohima in Nagaland.

Based on specific input, an operation was launched and Biki Basumatary was apprehended during the operation.

Basumatary is a resident of Gohpur of Sonitpur district of Assam.

Another youth, Nerswn Narzary who hails from Kokrajhar district was also apprehended along with Basumatary.

A mobile phone and some Korean currency was recovered from his possession.

During interrogation, Basumatary revealed that he had undergone three years training in Thulu Camp of NDFB (S) in Myanmar. He had gone to Myanmar in 2014 and recently reached Kohima. He was temporarily staying in Kohima. He had come to Kohima with specific direction from his hierarchy for recruitment of new cadres and also to act as a linkup man between National Socialist Council of Nagaland (Khaplang) and NDFB (S).

He was instructed to facilitate transportation of newly joined cadres from Assam to Myanmar through Kohima. The apprehended persons  along with all recovered items were handed over to South Police Station, Kohima for further investigation.
