Neutral force CAPF to be deployed at disturbed Assam-Mizoram border area

NEW DELHI: The CAPF will now be deployed in the disturbed Assam and Mizoram border area along National Highway 306. The personnel will be under a senior officer of the CAPF.

This decision was taken at a meeting held in New Delhi under the chairmanship of the Union Home Secretary at 4:30 pm in the afternoon that featured the Chief Secretaries of Mizoram and Assam.

It was also decided that in order to facilitate the functioning of the neutral force, both the governments of Assam and Mizoram will work out an arrangement in coordination with the Union Home Ministry.

In the meantime, both the governments have been urged to continue discussions mutually to "resolve the border issue in an amicable manner."
