Rs 196 crore has been sanctioned by the government for the construction of the road, which will be 79 kilometres in length. On February 24, Meghalaya speaker Metbah Lyngdoh laid the foundation stone for the same.
In 2018, Gauhati West MLA Ramendra Narayan Kalita had sent a letter over the widening of the proposed road to the Meghalaya government.
