The Chief Executive Member (CEM), Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) urged the rebel groups to take the ceasefire agreement ahead for the all-round development of the Karbi Anglong.
“To establish peace and harmony in the region and for the development of the region, it is important to continue the ceasefire agreement with the rebel groups - Karbi Longri National Liberation Front (KNLF), Karbi People's Liberation Tiger (KPLT) and United Peoples Liberation Army (UPLA),” Tuliram Ronghang, CEM, said.
He further added that the council had urged the groups to cooperate in establishing peace and harmony in the region.

In this regard, the CEM held a crucial meeting with Lok Sabha parliamentarian Horensing Bey; Amarsing Tisso EM; Bhaskar Jyoti Mahanta, Director General of Police, Assam and Debojit Deori, Superintendent of Police, Karbi Anglong, Diphu.
The meeting also discussed on the inter-state boundary dispute with the neighbouring states.
Moreover, the CEM also took stock of the prevailing COVID-19 situation in the district in Assam.
It may be mentioned that the COVID-19 has infected 1877 people and claimed four people in Assam. Of 1877 people, 1457 are active cases and 413 have been cured and discharged.
Meanwhile, as of June 4th, India has crossed 2 lakh-mark in terms of COVID-19 positives in the June 3rd, 2020. The country currently has 208000+ confirmed COVID-19 cases, 106737 active cases with 106737 cured, and discharged. The total number of deaths is 6075.
