Nobody involved in SI exam scam will be spared: Himanta

Assam Health & Family Welfare, Finance, Education minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has made it clear that nobody will be spared if found involved in the Assam Police SI exam scam.

Sarma said, If there is evidence against the accused police will investigate. They have already brought their own officer under the investigation so there is no doubt that they will leave others who are found to be involved.

The Assam Police SI exam scam is taking twists and turns with arrests almost every day after the investigation started. The investigating team led by Gyanendra Pratap Singh, ADGP, Law and Order has been swift in arresting the primary masterminds, former IPS, PK Dutta and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Diban Deka. Both were on the run for a few days but were finally arrested by the Police.

The recent arrest was Kumar Sanjit Krishna, Superintendent of Police by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) was an eye-opener as to the scale of involvement of high level police officials in the scam. Sanjit Krishna is accused of taking Rs. 40 lakh to open the question paper box at his official residence, two days before the exam on 18 September. During that period, Krishna was serving as the Superintendent of Police, Karimganj and was later transferred from Karimganj and was given charge as SP of FRRO, Barpeta.
