Guwahati: With an aim to showcase the culture of Assam on a greater scale, 5 more Kalakshetra's shall be installed in New Delhi, Dibrugarh, Diphu, Kokrajhar, and Silchar.
These mini Kalakshetra's which are going to be installed are expected to familiarize more people with the rich traditions of Assam.
These culture centres will be constructed in a bid to spread and also educate about Assam’s culture throughout the country.
It needs mention here that the Kalakshetra has remained closed since last year after the Citizenship Amendment Bill (CAB) protests. It was scheduled to open early this year, but the opening was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.It will finally reopen today by maintaining the COVID-19 protocols.

Srimanta Sankaradev Kalakshetra is a cultural institution. It includes a cultural museum, library and various facilities for preserving, demonstrating and performing cultural items.
Angoorlata Deka, the Vice-Chairman of Kalashetra, recently said in public that the authorities will focus on maintaining social distancing among the public and that the entire institution will be thoroughly sanitized.
The Vice-Chairman also said that the present official website, which was not used widely before, has been revamped and will be freshly launched on its reopening. Chief Minister of Assam, Sarbananda Sonowal will launch the new website.
