Moran, April 4, 2020:

At a time when the secular fabric of the nation is seen to be under threat due to the imposition of the Citizenship Act that grants citizenship based on region, people in Assam's Moran came together to pray for the repealing of the CAA via a recital of 'Bhagavat Path'/Naam.

People in Mahmora Constituency that falls under the newly carved out Charaideo district gathered at the Jutulibari Namghar to pray to the almighty so that the contentious CAA can be defeated. People from as many as 9 namghars that fall under the Mahmora and the Tingkhang Constituencies have congregated and begun a week-long recital of paath in the Vaishnavite tradition of the Assamese people. The recital was led by a group of women, known as Mahila Diha, who recited the sub-group category of Diha-Naam, sung in the praise of the almighty, and first propounded by the great saint-reformer Sankardeva.

"Through the Bhagavad Path we wish to say that the inauspicious things such as the CAA which have caused us suffering, and frankly shocked us. To ensure that such things do not happen, we are organizing this Bhagavad Path", one of the bhokots (Vaishnavite priest) told the media.

Meanwhile, the United Nations has also started poking the Indian Government to repeal the CAA, which is generally being deemed as a "violation of human rights". Days after she had decried the Citizenship Amendment Act (or CAA) on the United Nations platform, the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, Michelle Bachelet, has filed an intervention in the Supreme Court on the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and informed India’s Permanent Mission in Geneva about it. However, India, its retort, claimed that the Act abides by the Constitution.
