Guwahati: Assam's Jadav Payeng, hailed as the "Forest Man of India", has brought more laurels to the state after he recently became part of the curriculum of a school in the United States of America (USA)'s Connecticut State.
Documentaries demonstrating his course of life were shown to the students.
Navami Sarma, an Assamese woman teaching at the school, told News18 that the school does not follow any textbook.
Recently, students in the Green Hills School in Bristol were taught lessons on the life of the Padmashri awardee from Assam.
According to reports, Payeng’s work was incorporated in the class six curriculum as part of their Ecology and Environmental Science.

Instead, the schools are operated by the district administration and educationists prepare the curriculum for particular classes.
Payeng has been included in the list of lessons that are being taught to the students.
Jadav Payeng, belonging to the Mishing community indigenous to Assam, is widely known for converting a thousand acres of the barren sand bar into a forest and biodiversity hotspot in Assam. Payeng has dedicated nearly 42 years of his life taking care of the Molai woods, and has been planting saplings since 1979 -- when he was a kid.
Students of four sections in class six Science stream studied about Payeng. They have expressed surprise at how a single person could create such an impact.
It needs mention here here Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal congratulated Payeng on twitter, hailing his exemplary and tireless contribution to the green mission. Payeng's exploits have also been covered by video blogger Nas Daily in social media.
