The Meghalaya CM Conrad Sangma-led National People’s Party (NPP) has announced its candidate to contest the ensuing Lok Sabha elections from the Nagaland Constituency. The NPP will field Hayithung Tungoe, a former student leader affiliated with the BJP, who quit the saffron party amid the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill ruckus.
It may be mentioned that the NPP party initially had plans to field candidates in all 25 constituencies of the Northeast and will contest the elections in all seven Northeastern states.
