Sleuths of vigilance anti-corruption on Thursday arrested two employees engaged with Ganeshguri NRC Seva Kendra (NSK) on charges of taking bribe.

The two arrested employees have been identified as Syed Shahjahan and Rahul Parashar.

The duo allegedly took Rs 10,000 for inclusion of name in the NRC

Sleuths of vigilance anti-corruption department conducted the raid in the Ganeshguri NSK following a complaint by a lady and arrested the two employees.

The final draft of the National Register of Citizens (NRC) will be published on July 31 as directed by the Supreme Court.

As per the NRC authorities, nearly 85 percent of the proceeding has been completed so far. Prior to that, an additional draft will be published on June 22. Earlier, June 15 was set for the publication of this additional draft.

The date for publication of the additional draft was postponed as per the directions of the Supreme Court. This draft will be conclusive of the data filed after the hearing of claims and objectives.

However, the names of 40,07,707 people have been left out of the draft for which the claims and objectives have been filed.

It is to be mentioned that there are reports alleging that the NRC authorities have been ignorant over the work. The minority students body alleged that many other students’ bodies have been forcing people to make false Objections against genuine minority Indian citizens. On the others, All Assam Minority Students’ Union (AAMSU) has claimed that a conspiracy is afoot to deprive genuine Indian citizens as it was reported in print as well as electronic media that about 1,300 Objections were filed up to 30.12.2018, but the numbers rose up to more than 2.5 lakhs on the last date i.e. 31.12.2018.

The Assam National Register of Citizens (NRC) co-ordinator Prateek Hajela has confirmed that ‘D-voters’ or doubtful voters will now be eligible for inclusion in the final NRC draft to be published on July 31.
