As the man-elephant conflicts continue in Assam, a man was trampled to death by a herd of wild elephants in Udalguri.
The deceased has been identified as Dalbahadur Tamang. He was attacked when he went to his fields to protect the crops from animals.
Over the past few days, elephants have been regularly "invading" crop lands in the Bamunjuli area. The farmers were concerned and so they tried to chase the elephants away but the elephants instead of returning back to the forests, attacked the farmers and as a result of this Tamang was fatally injured. He died on his way to the hospital.
It may be mentioned that over the past few days, several incident of human deaths due to elephant invasion have been reported from several locations of state.
