Guwahati (Assam), September 15, 2018:

The Hojai Police on Saturday detained one Saidul Alam who was allegedly in constant touch with arrested Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) terrorist Qamar-uz-Zaman.

He is the second person to be arrested for maintaining contact with Zaman. On Friday, the police had arrested one Shahnawaz Alam from Jamunamukh.

The police suspected that Saidul, the person detained in Hojai’s Lanka, had been in touch with Zaman for a long time and he knew everything about him. Saidul was said to be in Kashmir for the past three years and the police suspected that he had links with the terror outfit.

It may be mentioned that Zaman, a resident of Jamunamukh, was arrested on Thursday from Kanpur in Uttar Pradesh.

UP Director General of Police, OP Singh, said Zaman was planning an attack on Ganesh Chaturthi and based on specific inputs, he was arrested from Kanpur's Chakeri.

He said the Anti-Terrorist Squad was tracking him for the past few days leading to his arrest. The terrorist came under the police radar after he had posted a photo of him with an AK-47 rifle on social media. The police further added that he was trained in Pakistan last year.
