After ten days of silence on the questionable law & order situation in Assam, Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal finally addressed the state and termed the ones who are ‘misinforming’ about Citizenship (Amendment) Act are the 'true enemies' of the state.
CM Sonowal, while addressing the Press on Friday morning, said that under the guise of peaceful protests, some were trying to misinform the public. “They have created a division among the people by misinforming them. They are the enemies of the society in the true sense of the term,” he said.

He further said that the masks of the ones who were misinforming the Assamese people would soon fall off. He also assured the people of Assam that the indigenous rights were not at stake. “Today as the ‘son of this soil’, I would like to tell the public that Assam will always be for the Assamese. Assam’s culture, tradition, language, etc. will always remain intact. It will always be secured. Nobody can snatch away the rights of the indigenous people of Assam,” assured CM Sarbananda Sonowal.
Breaking his silence on the controversial amendment of the Citizenship Bill and the ruckus in the northeastern state, the Chief Minister said that the C(A)A will be clear after the completion of the application process and other formalities. “Some say that 50 lakh people will be brought in to Assam while some say that the number is one crore and 1.5 crore and so on. But the exact number, which is very few, will be informed once it is listed shortly,” he said.

The Assam CM has also urged the protesters and the organisations for a dialogue with the state government. “Everything is possible through dialogue,” he said.
Responding to the countless questions of the leaders and the general public on Sonowal’s position as the CM of Assam, he stated, “You have made me the CM and I work for the development and security of Assam. I’m not playing hide and seek here, Am I? Don’t take me as an outsider. I’ve been always there and will always be with you. I’ll never forget the love and respect you have given me.”
