Panchayat Polls | Several voters fail to cast votes due to Faulty electoral rolls

Guwahati, December 5, 2018:

Due to the faulty electoral rolls, many voters who came were asked to leave the polling stations in many places in Assam without casting their votes as their names went missing from the voters list.

Reportedly, the polling staff members informed it to be a common problem but did not allow the voters to cast their votes without their names on the list.

However, the voting was underway for the first phase of the panchayat polls. The polling is on for the 16 districts- Tinsukia, Dibrugrah,Sivasagar, Charaideo, Jorhat, Majuli,Golaghat, Nagaon, Dhemaji, Lakhimpur, Biswanath, Sonitpur, Darrang, Morigaon, Kamrup (M) and Kamrup in Assam.

The polling began at 7 am and will end by 3.30 pm.
