Panchayat secretary held in graft case

Bongaigaon (Assam), September 1:

The panchayat secretary of Dangaigaon in Bongaigaon district was arrested by the police on Friday night for alleged misappropriation of funds of a government scheme.

Police sources informed that the secretary, Dipak Ghosh, was arrested based on a complaint filed by the locals who alleged that he was involved in corruption in the implementation of Pradhan Mantri Awaz Yojna in the area. He is currently in judicial custody.

The police are conducting a probe to find out the possible involvement of others in the alleged scam.
