Guwahati, February 4, 2020:

Pro-talks United Liberation Front of Asom leader Pranamoy Rajguru, who is the main accused in the blast orchestrated by the militant group in Guwahati in May last, has informed that the outfit's leader Paresh Baruah, currently in exile, is ready for peace talks.

Talking to Inside Northeast outside the NIA Court where he was summoned earlier today, Rajguru said that there is no need to be apprehensive about the Government's talks about the ULFA, as the leaders of the separatist group will not sign an Accord if it is not agreeable to the public.

"People need not be worried about the peace talks between the ULFA and the GoI", Rajguru said, adding that the ULFA would only sign an Accord with the people's mandate

"If people accept it, if they support it, then only they (the ULFA) will sign that Accord. If they don't take the people's wish into consideration, then we can condemn them", the ULFA leader said, stating that the ULFA leadership, including Arabinda Rajkhowa will only sign the dotted line if the people give their consent to the terms.

Rajguru also stated that Paresh Baruah, the leader of the anti-talks faction of the militant outfit, is ready to discuss the core issues with the Centre. "Paresh Baruah is ready for talks, the Government should also be ready. He has never opposed peace talks. We have belief in Paresh Baruah, he has honesty, the Indian Government should show a similar faith...when core issues will be discussed, he has confirmed that he will sit for the parlays, so there is no need to be apprehensive".
