Guwahati, March 3, 2019:

Assam Congress President while addressing the media on Sunday, said that the Congress party has set a target of “ten plus” seats in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. He also said that Congress candidates to contest the election will be decided within March 10.

Reacting to Badruddin Ajmal’s appeal to Hagrama Mohilary to form an alliance, he said: “The AIUDF does not have the public’s support anymore and in all probability, they will not win a single seat. By and large, people have deserted AIUDF and are now joining the Congress.”

Bora also expressed confidence that the NPP party of Meghalaya CM Conrad K Sangma won’t hurt the prospects of the Congress in Assam and in fact, could eat into the BJP vote bank.

He also expressed his happiness at the recruitment of students into Congress student body NSUI: “Now people are being attracted towards the Congress, including the student wing NSUI from all corners due to the condition of the country under BJP rule. People have thus been attracted towards the Congress student wing NSUI.”

“More than 100 students from all over Assam have joined us, including student leaders who left other parties. This bodes well because student organizations had a negative perception of the Congress”, he added.
