Guwahati (Assam), September 20, 2018:

The prices of fuel have skyrocketed again much to the chagrin of the consumers. On Friday, petrol is being sold at Rs 84.66 a litre and diesel Rs 77.24 in Assam’s capital Guwahati.

In contrast, the petrol price in Mumbai has reached Rs 89.82 per litre and in Delhi the per litre costs Rs 82.22. Diesel prices have not been increased in Delhi, while diesel is up by 7 paise in Mumbai at Rs 77.06.

In Chennai, per litre petrol is priced Rs 85.70 and diesel is priced Rs 78.31. In Kolkata, petrol has reached Rs 84.40, while diesel is Rs 75.72.

The shooting prices are attributed to intense rise in international crude prices and drastic fall in the exchange value of rupee against the US dollar. Given that the rising prices leave a cascading effect, the prices of all other items, particularly essential commodities, are set to go up.
