Guwahati (Assam), September 8, 2018:
Consumers are getting no respite from the spiraling fuel prices. On Saturday, the cost of one litre petrol reached Rs.82.75 in Guwahati. It was worse in Upper Assam’s Jorhat where it is being sold at Rs.83.12 a litre. The price in New Delhi is Rs.80.08 a litre.
The price of diesel in Guwahati is Rs.75.80 while it is Rs.76.02 a litre in Dhubri. At Rs.76.15 a litre, the price of diesel in Assam is the highest in Jorhat.
The rising prices are being attributed to intense rise in international crude prices and drastic fall in the exchange value of rupee against the US dollar. Given that the rising prices leave a cascading effect, the prices of all other items, particularly essential commodities, are set to go up.
