A few hours from now Prime Minister Narendra Modi will arrive in Assam’s Kokrajhar to participate in the celebrations of the singing of the historic Bodo Accord.
Kokrajhar has also geared up to welcome the Prime Minister in its own way. A festive atmosphere has taken over Kokrajhar today as the Bodo people celebrate the Peace accord that was signed between the members of the National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB) and the Centre.

More than 10,000 volunteers of the All Bodo Students’ Union (ABSU) will be participating in the cultural programmes, which in turn will be a colorful display of the ethnic tribes of Assam. Kokrajhar is all set to present the diversity of the state through the various cultural performances.
ABSU president Pramod Boro said, “Everyone is happy today because year after year, Bodo people had been struggling for peace. Today is the day when we will usher in the era of peace and hope that it will be permanent. We also hope that no violence will take place in Bodoland from today onwards. Today is the day to celebrate.”

He also extended his heartfelt gratitude saying, “PM Modi has fulfilled his promise of peace in Bodoland. We are thankful to him.
Over 1,615 cadres of different factions of the NDFB surrendered their arms and joined the mainstream within two days of the signing of the Bodo Peace Accord.
