While addressing an election campaign rally in Uttar Pradesh on Saturday, Modi attacked the Congress party and said that the life of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi ended as a ‘Bhrashtachari No 1’.

Condemning Modi’s remarks, the APCC staged a protest in front of the party regional headquarters at Rajiv Bhavan in Guwahati and lamented that the PM's comments have destroyed the dignity of the Office.

Congress MLA and opposition leader Debabrata Saikia said that the BJP has gradually lost their grip in the entire country so they are trying to create division by making such baseless allegations.

"Modi is desperate now and that is why he is making these issues", he said.

"He is not only BJP’s star campaigner but he is also the Prime Minister of India. He has destroyed the dignity of the Prime Minister’s post", Saikia stated.
