“Poacher” given candidature ticket for Panchayat polls by AGP

Guwahati, November 16, 2018:

In a shocking incident, a poacher was selected to save elephants as he was given a candidature ticket to contest the panchayat election by the Assam Gana Parishad (AGP).

Ganesh Doley, once accused of “poaching” will be contesting for the presidential seat in the upcoming panchayat election under a ticket by the AGP.

According to official reports, Doley was arrested in Dhansirimukh by the Rongmongwe police in a case related to “rhino poaching” in the year 2012.

It may be mentioned that poaching of animals is one of the biggest issue prevailing in the state which the government claims to have administered strict orders. Every year, there have been reports of rhino poaching just for their horns. But giving candidature tickets to a person accused of poaching has brought mass criticism towards AGP by various people and organizations in the social media.
