DIBRUGARH: The accused in the horrific incident in which a 30-year-old woman in Dibrugarh sustained severe injuries after being allegedly attacked with acid on Sunday night while she was returning from work has been arrested by the Dibrugarh police in the wee hours today.

 

The accused has been identified as Buddhadev Das (50-year-old) is a resident of Shantipara area in Dibrugarh.

 

A team of Dibrugarh Police led by Sadar officer-in-charge (OC) Rajib Saikia in association with Time Slot Interchange (TSI) Manoranjan Saikia and Amolapatty Inspector-in-charge (IC) Deep Sonowal started an immediate investigation into the matter after the incident took place and successfully managed to arrest the accused.

The 30-year-old was attacked with acid near Mirzabaag under Amolapatty Police outpost in Dibrugarh town when she was returning from duty from Sohum Shoppe.

The victim sustained severe injuries and has been admitted to the Assam Medical College & Hospital, Dibrugarh (AMCH).
