DHUBRI: Rahul Prasad, a member of the Bajrang Dal in Assam's Dhubri district, was shot at today while trying to flee police custody.
Prasad was caught by police yesterday in a drug case.
According to police, Rahul Prasad made attempt to run away from Police custody, therefore, police had to resort to controlled firing to prevent his escape.
In the police firing, Rahul Prasad has sustained an injury in his leg.

Police arrested Prasad yesterday and seized a huge amount of contraband drugs from his house.
Acting on a tip-off, Deputy Superintendent of Police Dipankar Dutta Lahkar of Dhubri Special Branch conducted a raid in the residence of Rahul Prasad in the early hours yesterday and was able to seize the contraband tablets, along with some other objectionable substances.
According to police, accused Rahul has been involved in distributing illegal tablets for a long time, and this is the third time Rahul and Rakesh have been apprehended in connection with supplying addictive substances.
Police later registered a case against Rahul Prasad with previous case references (1) Dhubri P.S. C/no 1652/20 u/s 22(C) NDPS Act. (2)Dhubri PS C/no 366/21 U/s 22(C) NDPS Act .
