Guwahati, December 31, 2018:

 

In a major reshuffle in police administration, Guwahati Commissioner of Police, Pradip Saloi, has retired from his duties today. His successor, Deepak Kumar, has been sworn in as the new Commissioner. Saloi had been sworn in as the CP in August of this year, replacing former commissioner Hiren Ch. Nath.

It may be mentioned that Saloi is a 1999 batch IPS officer. In 2009, he had been posted as Senior Superintendent of Police in Guwahati and had been later appointed the Inspector General of Police (IGP), administration. The race for his successor had been closely contested between Deepak Kumar and Anurag Aggarwal, with the former being finally appointed for the post.
