TINSUKIA: A 25-year-old woman from Tinsukia district of Assam who is 8 months pregnant has alleged that she was allegedly harassed and physically assaulted by her husband and in-laws.
She also claimed that she was forced by her in-laws to abort the child.
On January 19, 2021, she got married to Chintu Aich, a resident of Makum Pather, Margherita in Tinsukia.
Speaking to InsideNE she said, " Until two months of our marriage everything was picture-perfect but after two months my in-laws have started torturing me mentally and physically demanding me to bring money from my father's home."
" Even after the news of my pregnancy, they kept harassing me for money and also forced me to abort her child," she added.

She further stated that her husband also kicked and thrashed her many times, but she was quiet and did not inform her parents.
"My husband left me to wander here and there and I ended up at my parents' place a week ago, On October 7, 2021, he asked me to bring Rs 3 lakh from her father's home," the victim said.
A case has been registered at Margherita Police station and an investigation on the matter is underway.
It may be mentioned that when InsideNE tried to connect the accused family members of Chintu nobody was present at home.
