‘Prithibi Assam’ celebrates Methoni…empowering women: Women’s Day celebration

Guwahati, March 8, 2019:

On the occasion of International Women’s Day, a programme was arranged on the theme- Methoni…empowering women at Banikanta Kakati auditorium in Srimanta Sankardev Kalakshetra on March 8.

In the programme, women’s activist Dr Akashitora, convenor of the programme and her company Aroha Empire and Prithibi Assam has encouraged the women bodybuilders from the Northeast to celebrate womanhood.

The programme was graced by many known personalities of the town and senior woman bodybuilders from North East and other districts of the state.

The achievers to be felicitated on the occasion are Paklu Taipodia, first women bodybuilder from the Northeast, Dr Anindita Priyadarshini Das, first women bodybuilder from the Dibrugarh district, Rinkumoni Chetia, first Assamese bodybuilder from Assam and Suzie Basan, first women bodybuilder from Meghalaya.

A dance programme by the students of Maharshi Vidya Mandir Public School was another highlight of the event where an estimated 80 students participated.
