GUWAHATI: Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra shall return to Assam to address rallies ahead of the third and final phase of the elections in Assam.

On the 2nd, Priyanka will first head to the Goalpara East Constituency at 11:30 pm for a public meeting. From there, she will head on to Golakganj, where she will address a meeting at 1 pm. Lasrtly, she will address a rally at the Sarukhetri constituency at 2:30 pm.

Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi have undertaken several election campaigns in Assam, Kerala and Tamil Nadu. While Rahul Gandhi is likely to visit Kerala on 3-4 April, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra addressed her first rally in the state Tuesday.

Priyanka Gandhi Vadra last month launched the party’s five-guarantee campaign for the upcoming Assembly elections in Assam.

The five guarantees are bringing a law that nullifies the Citizenship (Amendment) Act, providing five lakh government jobs, raising the daily wage of tea plantation workers to ₹365, free electricity up to 200 units per household and ₹2,000 as monthly income support to all homemakers.

In this election, the main contest is seen to be between the alliances led by BJP and Congress.

The BJP-led led alliance also includes the Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) and United People's Party Liberal (UPPL).

Congress has stitched a broad alliance that includes All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF), Communist Party of India, the Communist Party of India (Marxist), the Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist) Liberation, the Anchalik Gana Marcha (AGM), and the Bodoland Peoples'' Front (BPF).

The 2021 Assam Legislative Assembly election is the 15th quinquennial legislative assembly election scheduled to be held in Assam from March 27 to April 6 in three phases, to elect 126 MLAs to the 15th Assam Legislative Assembly.
