Guwahati, April 30, 2019:

Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) President Ripun Bora has written a letter on Tuesday to the Chief Election Commissioner of India to express a set of grievances.

He questioned how BJP candidate Queen Oja's daughter Mayuri Oja was allowed to discharge duty in Guwahati as no officer is allowed to serve in their home districts during election time as per ECI Guidelines.

In the letter, the APCC Chief has requested the Commissioner to transfer Mayuri Oja, the daughter Queen Oja, who is discharging as Assistant Commissioner in Kamrup Rural district which is the nodal district for 7 Guwahati HPC.

Bora stated that this a violation of the ECI guidelines as well as the model code of conduct as her mother Queen Oja is the contesting candidate from BJP for 7 Guwahati HPC.

He further stated that Kamal Baiswa, who is the returning officer of Guwahati HPC, should also be removed due to his proximity to Himanta Biswa Sarma.
