The seniormost leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Assam, R P Sharma who has filed his resignation from the party on March 16, has announced his intention to form a new political party named “New Bharatiya Janata Party” while addressing the media at Lokapriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport in Guwahati.
The announcement was made after the party BJP named Pallab Lochan Das as its candidate to contest the Tezpur Lok Sabha seat. He said, “I will form a new BJP party and the newly formed party will consist all the veteran leaders of the state BJP who faced negligence over the past 15-20 years.”
R P Sarmah also lambasted Finance Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. Addressing the media at LGBI airport in Guwahati, Sarmah said: “Its Himanta Biswa Sarma’s time now, let him brag about it. The wheels will turn around; the times will change. Sarma must not forget that everything comes to an end. The neglected and deprived party workers, who dedicated their entire lives for the party, will rise to power once again.”
InsideNE was trying to establish contact with R P Sharma, but he refused to make any statement as he is presently ‘busy’.
