Guwahati, March 26, 2019:

Rain played spoilsport during a Bodoland People’s Front (BPF) rally held in Assam’s Chirang district on Tuesday which was being attended by BTC Chief Hagrama Mohilary. The incident took place in Kashikotra village in Chirang district.

A storm accompanied by rain hit the rally venue due to which the BTC Chief had to halt proceedings midway through the ceremony. This was the first BPF campaign rally in the area this year which was held to campaign for the BPF candidate Pramila Rani Brahma who will contest the Lok Sabha elections this year.

Apart from Mohilary, Rajya Sabha MP Biswajit Daimary and Sidli MLA and Tourism Minister Chandan Brahma were also present at the event. Organizers have claimed that over 10,000 people had attended the campaign rally.

All was well until heavy rain lashed the area. The rain was accompanied by strong gusts of wind which blew away the tents under which the rally was being held and the attendees of the rally were left running helter-skelter.

BTC Chief Hagrama Mohilary had to abandon his speech midway through and left the venue immediately along with the other dignitaries.
