Rajya Sabha session adjourned due to opposition’s protest

Guwahati, January 7, 2019:

The protest staged by Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) president Ripun Bora, Congress MP Bhubaneswar Kalita, Madhya Pradesh Assembly’s opposition leader Ajay Singh in front of the parliament against the Centre’s proposed Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2016 has led to the adjournment of Rajya Sabha Assembly session till 2:00 pm on Monday.

The protesting members were seen holding playcards with the following slogans: “Save Assam, Save India”, “Stop Citizenship Amendment Bill 2016”.

It may be mentioned that the Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) has submitted its report on the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2016 in the Lok Sabha today.
