Today, a debriefing and refresher training of NDFB (Ranjan Daimary) faction cadres was held at Udalguri designated camp of the organisation under project Swabalamban of the Home Department of the Government of Assam which was monitored by Hiren Nath, IGP, SB in collaboration with the State Institute of Panchayat and Rural Developments (SIPRD).
A similar refresher training was held at Udalguri NDFB (P) designated camp on 7th june last.
It may be mentioned that the Home Department of the Assam Government has trained 1,800 ex-militants under 'Project Swabalamban'.
Out of them, 500+ cadres have received one time Government grant of Rs 50,000 and Rs 50,000 as loan from the SBI.
The Refresher course and debriefing will help the cadres to utilise the fund in a rational manner. The counsellors have also spoken about the techniques in animal husbandry, small farming, etc.
The Special Branch of Assam police will arrange such Refresher training in other districts among ex-militants very shortly as stated by Hiren Nath, IGP, SB.
It may be mentioned that 56 ex-militants attended the training today.
The Swabalamban scheme is one of the major schemes launched by the present Assam Government for Self Employment of the Surrendered Militants of the State. The scheme is to be implemented by the Home Department in association with State Institute of Panchayat and Rural Development, Assam.
The State Bank of India, UBI and Assam Gramin Vikas Bank have agreed to offer the subsidized loan to the beneficiaries to start their self employment avenue.
The assisted beneficiaries can take up different activities in primary, secondary and tertiary sectors according to their own choice.
