Remaining stock of Covaxin to be utilized only for second dose: Assam Health Minister

GUWAHATI: Assam Health Minister Keshab Mahanta during a press meet on Friday informed that the remaining stock of Covaxin will be utilized only for the second dose.

Nearly 1.50 lakh people are to be vaccinated with the second dose, he informed.

Vaccination drives will be conducted more aggressively in 6 districts including Kamrup (M), Nagaon, Sonitpur, Dibrugarh, Tinsukia and Assam, the Minister informed.

During the meeting, he also informed that the government has fixed upper limit for the rates of COVID treatment in private hospitals. The price of a General COVID ward has been fixed at Rs4000 while charge for a private cabin in super-speciality hospital will cost Rs6500  and Rs 5000 in a general hospital.

ICU with ventilation will charge Rs15000 in a super-speciality hospital while in a supers peciality hospital it will  Rs 12000. The ICUs with ventilation will cost Rs9000 in general hospital while in a super speciality hospital it will cost Rs10000.

 

The government will aim to  vaccinate at least 70,000 per day, the Health Minister further said.

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma earlier on announced that he had issued instructions to fix the rates for COVID- 19 treatment in private hospitals.

“Affordable rates have been fixed for both general & super-speciality wards”, said the Chief Minister.
