Renowned Assamese Author Purabi Bormudoi Passes Away

Guwahati, July 15, 2019:

Legendary Assamese writer Purabi Bormudoi passed away early in the morning on Monday in Guwahati city of Assam.

The 69-year-old, who was born on 1950, was a revered poet, fiction writer, historical novalist,and was also the recipient of many prestigious awards.

For her huge contribution to the Indian literature, Purabi Bormudoi was awarded the Sahitya Akademi Awards in 2007, the Assam Valley Literary Award in 2012.

Her most popular works include the famous novel 'Santanukulanandan', 'Rupuwali Noi Sonowali Ghat', 'Baghsal', 'Manuh', etc.

The acclaimed author and essayist died at a Guwahati Medical College Hospital (GMCH), where she admitted for the last few days. It may be mentioned she donated her body and eyes before death.
