Rhino killed in Kaziranga by poachers

Guwahati, December 15, 2018:

An adult rhino was killed by the poachers at the Kaziranga National Park in Assam.

The incident occurred at the Bagori range late last night.

According to official sources, the poachers sawed off the animal’s horn and took it away.

“We heard some loud noise intermittently last night. We thought some people were bursting crackers. Later, we conducted a search and found the carcass,” a forest official said.

The rhino horn has a huge demand in South East Asian black markets. The horn is considered an aphrodisiac for both males and females.
