Two rhino poachers have been arrested from Numaligarh area in Golaghat district of Assam.
Police have arrested the two suspected poachers, along with Rhino horns. A motorcycle has also been seized from the two.
The two suspected have been identified as Konwar Shyam alias Susangfa and Borsing Hanche.
Udalguri Police, reportedly, have also apprehended two rhino poachers and recovered four handguns.
Speaking with Inside Northeast, Golaghat Superintendent of Police, Pushpraj Singh said, “Yes we have arrested two suspected poachers along with rhino horns in Numaligarh area. We have also seized a bike from the two.”
Rhino poaching in the surrounding areas of the Kaziranga National Park have lately been on the rise. In August, Police had arrested a rhino poacher named Bidya Rongfar from Jakhalabandha area. A joint operation was conducted by the police and forest departments in the area and nabbed Rongfar from his residence.
According to the police, the Rongfar was involved in several rhino poaching incidents in Kaziranga National Park.
Again, in July, police had nabbed an inter-state rhino poaching racket kingpin Tohiykhu Zhimomi, also known as ‘Master’ of Dimapur, Nagaland from Guwahati. He was involved in as many as seven poaching incidents.
