GUWAHATI: RSS chief Mohan Bhagawat on Tuesday evening reached Guwahati for a five-day visit. The RSS leader is expected to discuss some key political issues during the visit which comes months ahead of Assam's next Assembly elections, likely to be held in April of 2021.
As to reports, the RSS chief reached will be staying in a secluded Ashram in Adimgiri Hills near Maligaon in Guwahati.
Reportedly, Bhagwat is in Guwahati to oversee the organisation’s works in Assam and is not likely to make any public appearance in Guwahati, and will not address any public meeting.
According to reports, the RSS chief is scheduled to have a series of closed-door meetings with senior leaders of the organization, and is likely to meet some political leaders as well.
Bhagawat is likely to meet Assam chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Wednesday evening, and discuss some important political issues of the state.
The RSS chief will be in Guwahati till December 5, and after that he would visit Nagaland and Arunachal Pradesh.
Bhagwat is likely to return to Guwahati on December 12, and would camp at Keshav Dham, the RSS office at Paltan Bazar in Guwahati.
During his stay at Keshav Dham, Mohan Bhagwat is likely to talk to a large number of RSS leaders who are working in Assam.
Mohan Bagwat’s visit to Assam assumes significance as the state is set to go for election in April next year, and the ruling BJP is all out to retain power.
