The All Assam Students’ Union (AASU) on Wednesday has categorically criticized the Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) over its resumption of alliance with Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
AASU chief advisor Samujjal Kumar Bhattacharya said that the leaders of the AGP party terming AGP’s opposition of Citizenship (Amendment) Bill to be a “drama”.
Bhattacharya said, “AGP must inform the people of Assam as why they joined the BJP despite knowing that the BJP will be bringing back the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2019 if voted into power.”
The AASU leader also said that the NESO will fight against any Bill that is intended to hamper the people of Northeast, referring to the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill 2016.
