The Hailakandi district administration has intensified efforts to scotch rumours on the upcoming Measles Rubella vaccination campaign. The campaign will begin on August 17.
Following reports emanating from interior and far-flung areas, mostly inhabited by minority communities, that the vaccination is an attempt to control the fast-growing population of minority communities by making them incapable of reproduction, the administration is making all-out efforts to convince the people that it is not so.
Official sources said the health authorities had been doing vigorous awareness campaign by persuading parents, teachers, religious leaders and other stakeholders to achieve the target of immunising a little over 2.16 lakh children in the age group of below nine months to 15 years through 2,198 fixed and outreach sessions.
