Guwahati, November 5, 2018:

The office of the Deputy Commissioner of Police in West District, Guwahati issued prohibitory orders under Section 144 of CrPC on use of fire crackers in the surrounding areas of oil pipeline.

The order has been passed in view that the use of fireworks and bursting of crackers within the surrounding areas of oil pipeline can cause fire as huge quantities of highly explosive and combustible petroleum products are stored in Indian Oil Corporation Betkuchi, Hindustan Petroleum, Gorchuk and all the fuel pumps and all the oil pipelines passing through West Police District, Guwahati.

The order also stated that during Kali Puja and Diwali, no fire crackers sounding more than 125 db (A-1) 145 db (c) will be used.

Moreover, no crackers of any types will be allowed to be bursted after 10 pm as per guidelines issued by the Supreme Court of India.
