Seventeen lakh voters will decide fate of Kokrajhar Constituency in less than 24 hours

Kokrajhar, April 22, 2019:

All eyes are on the final four Constituencies of Assam (namely: Gauhati, Barpeta, Dhubri, and Kokrajhar-ST) where the third and final phase of polling will take place tomorrow. Voting will begin at 7 am in the morning.

In Kokrajhar, a total of 17,65,411 voters will be exercising their franchise tomorrow. Of these, 900,285 are males while 865,126 are female voters.

There are 138 polling stations which have been marked ‘sensitive’, whereas 36 have been marked ‘hyper-sensitive’. There is one model polling station and one female polling station.

Meanwhile, The Deputy Commissioner of Kokrajhar district in Assam who is also the returning officer has also confirmed that security has been beefed up along the Indo-Bhutan as well as Assam-West Bengal borders ahead of the election.

Today, polling officials transferred the EVM machines from the Basic Training Centre to the polling centers across the Constituency.

Fourteen Coys of security personnel have been deployed in Kokrajhar to ensure the safe and smooth passage of elections. Police will aid the security personnel in keeping the peace.

The assembly segments under Kokrajhar are Gossaigaon, Kokrajhar East (ST), Kokrajhar West (ST), Sidli (ST), Bijni, Sorbhog, Bhabanipur, Tamulpur, Barama (ST) and Chapaguri (ST).
