Budding shooter Hridoy Hazarika was on Thursday accorded a hearty welcome on his return to the state. He had carved a niche by winning a gold medal at the International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) World Shooting Championship held in South Korea recently.
He was welcomed by Minister Tapan Gogoi. Hazarika clinched the gold medal in junior men’s 10m air riffle event. He was the lone Indian to qualify for the final with a score of 627.3.
Tied with Iran’s Mohammed Amir Nekounam at 250.1, the 17-year-old Indian prevailed over in a shoot-off at the gala event.
